Information about incinerating Toilets
What is an incineration toilet?
An incineration toilet is a toilet where waste products are burned at high temperatures, reducing them to a minimal amount of ash. The incineration takes place in a closed incineration chamber, and the gases from the incineration are vented through a separate exhaust pipe.
Do I need water or sewage for installing Cinderella?
No, Cinderella incineration toilets does not need to be connected to water or sewage.
What energy source do I need to install a Cinderella?
Cinderella offers incineration toilets powered by electricity or gas. This allows cabins without access to the power grid to install and use an incineration toilet. Our gas-powered toilet additionally requires a 12V power source to operate the toilet's electronics.
How to use an incinerating toilet?
How many people can use the toilet?
All Cinderella incineration toilets have high capacity; 4 people can use the toilet per hour, making it perfect for families and guests.
We are a large group of people at the cabin, can the capacity of the incineration toilet be increased?
An incineration toilet has high capacity, 4 people can use the toilet per hour.
By using Cinderella Urinal as a supplement to your incineration toilet, the capacity can be increased. 4 out of 5 toilet visits are just for urination. Combining the Urinal and incineration toilet reduces both power or gas consumption and the use of bowl liners. Cinderella Urinal is therefore suitable as a supplement for Cinderella's environmentally friendly incineration toilets.
How do I use an incineration toilet?
- Open the lid and seat.
- Place an original bowl liner in the bowl.
- Lower the seat.
- Use the toilet as usual.
- Close the lid.
- Press the start button.

Do I need to "flush" after every use?
Yes, you do. Moisture from waste left in the bowl liner will seep through and cause it to stick to the bowl. Additionally, waste left standing will eventually start to smell.
How sustainable are incinerating toilets?
Can I burn sanitary products in the toilet?
Yes, small sanitary items such as tampons, pads, and alcohol-free wet wipes can be burned in the toilet.
Is there anything that cannot be burned in the toilet?
Yes, alcohol-based wet wipes or drinks, hand sanitizer, nail polish remover, flammable liquids/materials, gasoline, lamp oil/paraffin, cigarettes, chlorine-based cleaners, too much paper of any kind.
Is the ash safe to handle?
Yes, the ash is sterile and contains no bacteria. In fact, you can even spread it throughout your garden.
How long does an incineration last?
Usually 50-70 minutes. Note that incineration time may vary depending on the amount of waste (up to 180 minutes since the last visit).
Installation and Maintenance
How do I install my new Cinderella?
Installing a Cinderella is easy and requires no external tanks or the use of water and sewage. A ventilation system for air in/out must be installed, following our recommendations for reliable operation and a long lifespan.
It is essential to thoroughly read the installation manual that comes with the toilet. Incorrect installation can lead to malfunctions, wear, or odors and will void the warranty.
Before installation, we recommend familiarizing yourself with the applicable local regulations in the country where you plan to install the toilet.

How often should I empty the ash?
Empty the insert often, preferably at least once a week. Don't wait until the emptying alert. This keeps the toilet in better condition, and the parts last longer. The less ash in the ash container, the faster and more efficiently the incineration process.
What cleaning products should I use to clean the toilet bowl?
We recommend using moist paper, water, and a mild cleaning agent when needed.
What maintenance does my Cinderella toilet need?
With proper use and maintenance, you will enjoy your incinerating toilet for many years. You can do the most important maintenance yourself!
- Emptying and cleaning the ash container and insert.
- Steam cleaning the catalyst
- Cleaning the toilet's exhaust connection
- Rinsing the catalyst
- Cleaning the pipe and ventilation pipe
How often do I need to perform maintenance?
Emptying and cleaning the ash container and insert: Often, preferably at least once a week
Steam cleaning the catalyst: Each time you empty the insert
Cleaning the toilet's exhaust connection: After 500 uses
Rinsing the catalyst: Once a year (more frequently if the toilet is used in a year-round residence)
Cleaning the pipe and ventilation pipe: Once a year (more frequently if the toilet is used in a year-round residence)

General Frequently Asked Questions
We are installing the toilet with the exhaust pipe on the interior going through the roof. How deep is the T-shape attachment and what would be the distance from the back of the toilet to the wall?
The T-bend has been replaced with a 90-degree elbow with a condensate drain. Once this elbow is set in place within the toilet exhaust, it will extend about 8-8.5 inches behind the toilet. When installing it vertically, please ensure a minimum distance of 11 1/32 inches.
How many times can you use the toilet before incinerating it? Do you have to do it every time, or can I wait 2-4 times to "flush"?
While some customers collect 2-3 deposits over a day before incinerating, it is not recommended. The liner can become saturated and stick to the stainless-steel door traps, preventing proper sliding into the chamber. Typically, the user would close the lid and press the button to start incineration. If another user needs to use it, they can open the lid, pausing the incineration. When finished, closing the lid resumes incineration. All Cinderella toilets have moisture sensors ensuring the incineration completes regardless of usage. There's little efficiency in delaying incineration as it prolongs the cycle and consumes more energy.
Is this for residential application only? Can I use these in a tiny home or a mobile home?
Yes, many customers install these units in tiny homes successfully. Certain steps may be needed during installation to ensure proper airflow for efficient incineration. In smaller spaces, ensuring adequate fresh air intake is crucial.
Do you have to use a liner?
Yes, incineration toilets require a liner (except for the urinal). The liner helps slide deposits down the chamber. Not using one would necessitate extensive cleaning of the steel door openings after each use.
Can this run on a generator?
You can use a 240V AC generator for the comfort model. The freedom model uses propane for incineration and has a small 12V DC fan for the exhaust fan and control board.
How much does it cost per "flush"?
It costs about $0.20-$0.40 per "flush," including average propane usage and the liner. Costs may vary with future inflation.
Can you use this in a bathroom/shower in an RV?
Yes, but we recommend the Cinderella Travel model, designed specifically for RVs and boats.

Is there a smell when it incinerates?
No, there are no smells or foul odors when used properly.
What is the average lifespan of the Cinderella toilet?
Cinderella has been manufacturing these for over 25 years. They are well-engineered with high-quality components. Many users still use the same toilet for over 15 years. With proper maintenance, the toilet can last much longer, as all working parts can be replaced.
What is the electrical schematic? 12V DC - how is that hooked up?
The 12V DC power connection cable connects to the power control board within the toilet. The other end has two stripped wires (POS & NEG) for direct connection to a 12V DC battery, fuse block, or AC to DC adapter/converter. The power control board manages the burner fan, sensors, blower fan, display, and ignition, drawing about 4.3 amps during incineration.
Is there 110V or only 220V?
Currently, only the 220V version is available. Higher voltage systems are more efficient as they lose less energy from resistance. The 110V version did not meet Cinderella's high standards.
What kind of power bill would you get using the comfort model?
At full-time use, it draws about 1.5kW per flush.
