Jordan Jonas Reviews the Cinderella Incineration Toilet

Jordan Jonas is a Wilderness Living & Self-Reliance Expert and Season 6 Winner of History Channel’s survival competition show, ALONE

Aside from his victory on ALONE, Jordan is also known for his guided wilderness expeditions and numerous podcast appearances, such as The Joe Rogan Experience, where he shares survival tactics, some close calls with nature, and ethical hunting.

Earlier this year, Jordan reached out to us looking for advice on off-grid toilets. He was in the middle of building an off-grid cabin in Montana's mountains, made up of mostly salvaged parts and pieces. He wasn't keen on the idea of an outhouse for his build. This was a cabin he was going to bring guests to and he wanted a pleasant bathroom experience - something odorless, comfortable, and clean, like a traditional flush toilet.

However, when you're in the mountains of Montana, a septic system is not a particularly feasible option. They require professional maintenance and can be extremely costly to install, especially in rocky terrain far from grid access. Jordan began researching all of his options, and discovered Cinderella Incineration Toilets.

Why would someone want an incineration toilet?

It's simple. Traditional flush toilets account for almost 30% of household water consumption and septic systems can cost an arm and a leg (and in many locations across North America, water is not always a readily available resource).

Chemical toilets need to be frequently emptied at the high cost of chemical additives and professional handling. This leaves consumers with only a few other options. Composting toilets also are not always an appealing choice, as human waste takes a long time to break down, and these toilets can cause odors.

The beauty of incineration is that waste is quickly broken down into a simple, sterile ash that can safely be disposed anywhere.

"I've heard some pretty bad stories about incineration toilets"

Jordan was initially skeptical of incineration toilets, he mentioned that friends of his have owned an uncertified incineration toilet product and had very poor experiences. When you think of an incineration toilet, you're probably thinking of a toilet bowl full of fire. If that's what you are looking for, then perhaps an uncertified incineration toilet is the right choice.

Uncertified Incineration Toilets VS. Cinderella

Uncertified incineration toilet brands will try to convince you that certification doesn't matter. From our experience, if you choose to use an uncertified incineration toilet, you will likely run into one or more of the following issues:

  • No installation support
  • Bad odors
  • Smoke
  • Undesired Heat buildup
  • Excess energy consumption
  • Expensive liners (2-3x the cost compared to Cinderella Bowl Liners)

Cinderella is UL and NSF Certified

Certified means safe!

  • Safety Standards: UL certification means that the product meets rigorous safety standards, reducing the risk of fire hazards and electrical issues.
  • Health and Sanitation Compliance: NSF certification indicates that the toilets meet strict public health and environmental standards, ensuring they are safe and sanitary for use.

Jordan's Install of the Cinderella Incineration Toilet

Cinderella toilets have been used everyday around the world for almost 30 years. We have currently 22 established dealership locations, with dealership opportunities open all across the United States. We connected Jordan with a dealer in Montana, LD Systems.

Jordan was able to install his Cinderella on his own, given his experience. We always recommend referring to a qualified trade professional for Cinderella installation. If you're looking for a Cinderella dealership or installer near you, contact us at info@sustainabletoilets.com and we'll be happy to connect you.

After four months of use, Jordan uploaded a video tour of his cabin and included his 4-month review of Cinderella.

"I've been really happy with it, it's such a nice solution. It really beats running around with compost."

"The toilet itself has gotten a lot of heavy use this summer by a lot of different people. I haven't had any issues".
